Superintendent Search Timeline and UPDATES
Survey open to public - Sept 21, 2009 thru October 13th - 97 surveys entered (1 was test input))
Public Hearing RCHS Band Room - Survey period closed - Oct 13, 2009 6PM (small crowd ~20, very helpful opportunity to get feedback that could not be summed up on a survey)
Oct 14-15 putting survey and public comment info into an application which will be sent out in the coming week.
Oct 20th application and announcement finished, duplicated and mailed out to candidate pool.
Application deadline was Nov 20th, 20 candidates submitted applications! Meeting with Va School Board Associate Representative 12/7 to review apps and plan next steps.
Dec 7th RCSchoolBoard met with VSBA to narrow the candidate pool. We now have 5 candidates who the board will be interviewing in January. Hopefully narrowing down to 2 finalists and a second round of interviews in February.

A finalist visited the schools on Feb 22, 2010
As of 9 March 2010, we are in negotiation with our front runner finalist. We believe we are on target to have successful negotiations and are preparing for the introduction of the candidate at the April 13th board meeting.
Come meet the next Superintendent on the 13th after signing.
The School Board has gone through an arduous process of selection, multiple interviews and investigation of information about the candidates. We believe that the finalist we are prepared to appoint is the best choice for our district. We believe that you will agree, once he has had an opportunity to demonstrate his abilities to the schools and community.
